As reported in The Telegraph:
Deutscher's father said she could name the notes on a piano by the age of two. She was given her first violin for her third birthday, and was playing Handel sonatas within a year.Reposted from 2012 (the embed above shows her performing at age 6) to add this incredible video:
Earlier this year, Deutscher composed a short opera called The Sweeper of Dreams, which narrowly missed out on making the final of a contest run by the English National Opera to unearth young, talented classical musicians.
Scott Pelley selects four notes, and the now-12-year-old young lady takes less than a minute to compose and play a piano sonata based on those notes.

Wow.
ReplyDeleteHer intonation is actually not bad for a person her age. Playing this piece is a pretty big accomplishment for someone her age. Her shifting could use a little bit of work but she has great musical expression for a young child and I think that if she practices for a couple years she has the potential to be a great player.
ReplyDeleteWhat struck me was her incredible poise and dignity. It was quite a contrast to, say, Joe Biden's most recent performance.
ReplyDelete(I'm sorry to strike a political note, but the contrast came to mind.)
Oh please...re Biden. Give it a rest.
ReplyDeleteNo, sorry, I'll express my opinion and say whatever comes to mind about a particular video I see. Stifle yourself, if you want to stifle anyone.
DeleteShe is very good!! One talent! I am also composing a sonata! but I'm 17!
ReplyDeleteKisses of Brazil!
Congratulations girl!
I noticed she has a bump on her wrist, is this from all the practice.
