"Strawberry Fields Forever" explained

Forty years ago I enjoyed this song - but never "understood" it. The YouTube video above helps, as does this Wiki entry. I had never been aware of the "I buried Paul"/"cranberry sauce" controversy (it's detectable at 3:58-4:00 in the embedded video). The brief "appendix" after that, from the first recording session, is musically more appealing to my ears than the final mix; it's good to hear that ethereal quality of Lennon's voice.
