Incredible geography fact

I use the term "incredible" advisedly, as I found the answer to this question hard to believe.

Which state in the United States is closest to Africa?

    Maine.

    Yes, I didn't believe it either; had to pull up a Google map to see that it is closer to Morocco than any of the Southern states are to the rest of the continent.
