A family member was a librarian in the south and regularly had heavily armed men (it's never women, is it?) show up patrolling the children's book section to protect children. Needless to say, no sane human being wanted to be in the library at that time, which was an issue.
So they had to petition the county to ban guns from the library - a public building after all. Which miraculously, they got done.
A lot of Americans do not understand that having a right does not mean that exercising that right at all times is a good idea.
