Scanning electron microscope images of a viper’s fang, the fang of a spider, and the stinger of a scorpion (b, c, d). On the far left for comparison is a modern hypodermic needle. Via.
Several decades ago many/most inner-city charity hospitals didn't have staff phlebotomists. They relied on the medical student to perform that service. Not surprisingly, the students were often referred to as "just a little prick with a needle."
i wonder which of those four makes for the smallest 'just a little pinch' from the phlebotomist? the animal ones all look nice and smooth?
