Just a quick notice for those interested that tonight the Smithsonian TV channel will air a documentary entitled "The King's Skeleton: Richard III Revealed."
Smithsonian Channel has secured the exclusive North American program rights to tell the inside story of the astonishing discovery of Richard III’s remains, recently found just a few feet under a parking lot in central England... [The program] is produced by the only team allowed access to the scientists, the archaeological dig, and the scientific tests to determine the skeleton’s identity, which were carried out in complete secrecy. The new two-hour special will premiere on Smithsonian Channel on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.The related (but different) video embedded above comes via a post at The History Blog, which has collated a large number of relevant links.
Previously: Poor Richard III - buried under the two-doors.
Drat. We don't get the Smithsonian Channel and I would like to see this. Maybe it will be carried by another channel later on.
ReplyDeleteCathy, the Smithsonian has its own YouTube channel -

They've already put up a couple 4-minute segments related to the program; wouldn't be surprised if they upload the whole thing after the televised version has been completed.
Thanks Stan. I'll check this out today.

The first has the full Leicester conference, and the second and third are the full versions of what was filmed and shown on UK's Channel 4. This is probably what they shared with the Smithsonian channel.
Also, YouTube is now available on your TV if you have a Wi-Fi connection. Much nicer than watching on the computer.

DeleteWhat other equipment do you need? Thanks in advance.
Joanz, doesn't it depend somewhat on what type of tv you have? Tv's that can get youtube via a router/modem (wired or wireless) usually advertise the fact quite clearly as part of their sales pitch. Our tv is 5 years old and can't get anything from our own wifi internet.
DeleteMaybe I'm doing something wrong or misunderstanding, but when I go to the second and third links, I'm getting a message that the videos have been removed.
DeleteProbably copyright issues. Originally posted by the creator, reposted by someone else. Probably still available - try searching YouTube for the key words.
DeleteYoutube is available on my TV if I have wifi? How does that work? Don't you need a very modern TV that allows it?
DeleteAt the 6:00 she gives a very clinical description indicating that someone drove a blade up the King's posterior either immediately before or immediately after death.
