Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's family was NOT Jewish

This is the message I posted earlier in the week -

Damien McElroy and Ahmad Vahdat report in this morning’s The Daily Telegraph (U.K.) that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s family has Jewsih roots. During the recent Iranian election he held up his identity papers for a photograph. The notations on that document indicate that his family changed their name from Sabourjian to Ahmadinejad after he was born.

The Sabourjians traditionally hail from Aradan, Mr Ahmadinejad’s birthplace, and the name derives from “weaver of the Sabour”, the name for the Jewish Tallit shawl in Persia. The name is even on the list of reserved names for Iranian Jews compiled by Iran’s Ministry of the Interior…

The Iranian leader has not denied his name was changed when his family moved to Tehran in the 1950s. But he has never revealed what it was changed from or directly addressed the reason for the switch.

Here's a retraction:
Upon closer inspection, a completely different interpretation of "Sabourjian" emerges. According to Robert Tait, a Guardian correspondent who travelled to Ahmadinejad's native village in 2005, the name "derives from thread painter – sabor in Farsi – a once common and humble occupation in the carpet industry in Semnan province, where Aradan is situated". This is confirmed by Kasra Naji, who also wrote a biography of Ahmadinejad and met his family in his native village. Carpet weaving or colouring carpet threads are not professions associated with Jews in Iran.

According to both Naji and Tait, Ahmadinejad's father Ahmad was in fact a religious Shia, who taught the Quran before and after Ahmadinejad's birth and their move to Tehran...

Moreover, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's mother is a Seyyede. This is a title given to women whose family are believed to be direct bloodline descendants of Prophet Muhammad. Male members are given the title of Seyyed, and include prominent figures such as Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei. In Judaism, this is equivalent to the Cohens, who are direct descendants of Aaron, the brother of Moses. One has to be born into a Seyyed family: the title is never given to Muslims by birth, let alone converts. This makes it impossible for Ahmadinejad's mother to have been a Jew. In fact, she was so proud of her lineage that everyone in her native village of Aradan referred to her by her Islamic title, Seyyede.

  1. I'm torn. On one hand, I want to adhere to principle, take the high road, and say that the fact that Immadinnerjacket was once Jewish is of no political consequence. It's something for the psychologists to mull over, but otherwise a footnote in the life of this mad man. On the other hand, I'm tempted to play into the idea of a mass Jewish conspiracy and try to convince the Iranian hardliners that he's actually a Jewish sleeper agent, and should be dealt with post haste.

  3. Here is the thing I willing to bet a years salary if they started doing DNA mapping in that part of the world they would find many of the self righteous bastards that call themselves Mullahs actually have some Jewish heritage along the way. I mean hell they found a whole village of Ethiopians with the "Priesthood Gene". Still wouldn't change anything because it never was about Allah its about money and power.

  4. Another UK paper completely discounted the reporting in this story. He's not from a Jewish background.
