CBS doesn't "get it"

On the "Early Show" they present a segment entitled "Chef on a Shoestring" suggesting meals to prepare "on our new, lower, recession-busting budget of $35." For one meal. Cooked at home. Here's the menu:

  • Beet Salad with Crushed Pistachios & Soft Goat Cheese
  • Lamb Ragu with Rigatoni and Fresh Ricotta
  • Greek Yogurt with Blood Oranges, Honey & Mint

  • They seem to be quite proud to be able to suggest how this "Spaghetti meal with a twist and on the cheap" can feed your family one meal for $35 at home. Either CBS is totally out of touch with mainstreet America, or America has a lot further to fall before the recession becomes real.

    1. Dear TYWKIWDBI,
Just discovered this Blog a few weeks ago. It is fascinating & my current favorite internet window to the world. Thank you so much! The diversity of information & generous links are excellent.
I'm a newcomer to internet (2 years) but this is one of the best things I have found.
I wanted to suggest possibly also including "Chef on a Shoestring" in the WTF category.
Thanks Again, your fan Richard Paruss
