These would be on the Pacific Plate side.
(2) That part of Imperial County is also below sea level. That area is the heart of a great rift valley, like the one in Israel and the one on eastern Africa.

My point being that there are some very powerful and unique geological forces at play in that exact spot.Ron Larsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16030823782542340978noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4912713243046142041.post-7169441733635345592013-01-19T21:15:24.641-06:002013-01-19T21:15:24.641-06:00it almost looks to me like 'drops' of supe...it almost looks to me like 'drops' of super-viscous semi-liquid that 'dripped'...Cheryl in Francenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4912713243046142041.post-83627426274979693672013-01-19T08:54:25.023-06:002013-01-19T08:54:25.023-06:00My initial thought process led me to lightning str...My initial thought process led me to lightning strikes also. That much energy and heat would quickly congeal silica into a concretion. The type of concretion depends on several mineral content factors in the ground.

As to the pointing west part, I would be curious to know which direction the river was running where these items were found. Any swift running water would turn the concretions so that the pointy end with least resistance face upstream.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4912713243046142041.post-89118787396378297732013-01-19T05:16:20.983-06:002013-01-19T05:16:20.983-06:00It reminds me of a project to use lens condensed s...It reminds me of a project to use lens condensed sunlight on sand for 3D printing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptUj8JRAYu8bucaneerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05630311295205545919noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4912713243046142041.post-41592687447681090322013-01-18T17:20:20.322-06:002013-01-18T17:20:20.322-06:00That second link offers a nice point-by-point debu...That second link offers a nice point-by-point debunking of some of Hancock's material. When I picked up the last one, I got violently ill from heat (from air temp, not the stone)and I always wondered if I'd hallucinated the conical sandstones. I hope someone has some insight about them. Michele Gattonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02283480764765738432noreply@blogger.com
