I like reading other people's quest to find their ancestors. I recently had the opportunity to visit a museum which holds a revolver owned by my 2G grandfather. The curator even let my father and I hold the gun. Personal connection spanning the years is very cool. If you haven't already found it, the website Find-A-Grave is quite interesting for research too. Out of curiosity, I looked up Finseth and found your Ole K. with other links.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4912713243046142041.post-71426656362256907822012-10-17T00:10:06.109-05:002012-10-17T00:10:06.109-05:00My father's family is Minnesota Norwegians. My cousin traced the family back to Norway and went over and met our relatives there.

The reason our branch of Larson's moved to MN was because they were starving tenant farmers back in Norway. It was reported that they merely survived winters on lard and dried fish. Only to plan again in spring and have the landlord take most of the crop.

It would not surprise me if that is what motivated Finseth. He may not have owned the land where he lived. At the time, it was probably owned by a Swedish absentee landlord.

Anyhow, life for Norwegians at the time was difficult and probably pretty dismal. The chance to come over the America and break your own land and make your own way looked pretty good.Ron Larsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16030823782542340978noreply@blogger.com
