In reality, if an attacker has enough access to your computer to install a keylogger, they have enough access to do everything else, which includes reading your password file and watching you edit them. It's roughly the equivalent of having a fake front door on your warehouse and counting on that to protect you when the thief is already inside the building.

Generally speaking, security by obscurity is a bad idea. It's much more effective just to keep your machine patched and use a good antivirus to avoid being hacked in the first place. Tape over the camera isn't a bad idea either. If you want more security than that, learn to use linux. :-DMel V.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4912713243046142041.post-35189972059465338692012-01-30T15:08:16.540-06:002012-01-30T15:08:16.540-06:00Bandaid. --a.Bandaid. --a.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4912713243046142041.post-22473271601468050712012-01-30T14:51:40.477-06:002012-01-30T14:51:40.477-06:00Not an option if your computer has one pre-install...Not an option if your computer has one pre-installed.Aritê gunê Akasahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03619166885106439477noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4912713243046142041.post-70494495811383998332012-01-30T14:44:38.846-06:002012-01-30T14:44:38.846-06:00This is why the webcams on the notebooks at school...This is why the webcams on the notebooks at school are locked off in the BIOS.Skipweaselhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12454297424665652387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4912713243046142041.post-33308276730945825102012-01-30T14:31:36.689-06:002012-01-30T14:31:36.689-06:00Right, but if you're going to store them on yo...Right, but if you're going to store them on your computer, you can store incorrect versions, with the conversion kept only in your mind (or in your bank safe deposit box for your heirs).

For example, if your real password to the National Butterfly Association is NBA3yrs#3dh, then store it as NBA9yrs#9dh, with the understanding that any password of yours containing a 9 actually uses a 3.Minnesotastanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01382888179579245181noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4912713243046142041.post-18633532562599456622012-01-30T14:19:21.111-06:002012-01-30T14:19:21.111-06:00Plus, if someone has access to all my files, that ...Plus, if someone has access to all my files, that means the file with the passwords, too.

I personally put a bandaid over the webcam lens on my laptop after I watched a Discovery Channel show about evading surveillance.Seraphhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11931043303622096862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4912713243046142041.post-61775475326495588732012-01-30T13:36:42.384-06:002012-01-30T13:36:42.384-06:00I have been told (not sure if it's true) that ...I have been told (not sure if it's true) that one way to bypass a keylogger is to copy/paste your passwords, rather than typing them in.
