Manes

This image of Icelandic horses at play in Germany was one of the Photos of the Week at The Atlantic.  It got me wondering whether horses' manes provided evolutionary advantages that might have led to selection pressures affecting their size.  I'm not a "horse person," so there is a fuckton of stuff I didn't know, nicely summarized at the relevant Wikipedia page.

  1. ccodex out of all of their evolutionary features the mane is the least interesting.

Eg. Horses liberate 02 through spleen and myoglobin. Pregnant mares can delay delivery. The list goes on...

    1. Your use of the term "liberate" is a bit confusing in this context, What the spleen does is contain erythrocytes (red blood cells) out of the circulation, which it can release into the circulation during periods of extreme exercise or stress, creating a temporary polycythemia, which allows for increased transport of oxygen to the muscles.

  2. Will I too slip into contracted swearwords as I get older ?

Also, I imagine 'fuckton' is used with regards imperial tonnage, as you reside in one of the two countries that still use measurements based on an English king's body parts, but for the sake of precision perhaps you could state it as 'fuckton imp.' or 'fuckton met.'

I do try to meter out my exasperations at the slow rate of global conversion to the decimal system of measurements, but with Myanmar mired in miles and the staid states static, it does irk sometimes.

But even the British have moved on some, with their pounds now being weighted with the decimal system, on paper at least.
I hear they are going to remove the visages of their famous people from their notes, replace them with animals of the forest, or some such things ... while the USA is doing the polar opposite, putting their king on their paper money, just to trump the British, no doubt.

Oh, excuse me, someone just whispered in my ear, the metric written term for ton is tonne, so your 'fuckton' is quite self-explanatory.

    My bad.
