If Trump wants to send a hospital ship - fine. Send it to Gaza. Send it to Sudan.
This man is certifiably clinically insane and out of touch with reality. If he were running a corporation it would go bankrupt. The United States has become the laughing stock of the world, with a figurehead preseident who is opening mocked, parodied, and hated. The American people are viewed as stupid and weak for permitting him to ruin the country while the billionaires reap the profits.

He is very effective in achieving his goals.
And yet, I see very little discussion about how this can be prevented in the future. Just getting power back is not going to do it. Fundamental systemic change is necessary because the famous "checks and balances" are ineffective. Y'all need a significant update to congressional rules, executive power, the judiciary and probably the constitution.
Where are the people preparing this?
There are many American cities that could use a hospital ship. Denmark has their medical house in order. We do not. And yes, Trump is a psychopath, while not the only psychopath. It's too bad he's such an excellent example of what might distract affluent/elite Democrats from engaging in any real introspection.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if Trump/Hegseth are smart enough to come up with this, but perhaps the Greenland story is cover to get the ship through the Panama Canal (the ship is based in San Diego) and heading across the Atlantic for deployment in the event of an armed with Iran? Would have to be a major engagement to need such a large ship as the Mercy. It's sister ship, the Comfort, is usually based on the east coast in Norfolk, VA, but it is currently undergoing extended maintenance period that began in January 2026. Just a thought...

DeleteNever said there was an issue with military ships passing through the Panama Canal. in fact, they get "first and free" passage through the canal. The Mercy went through in July. Movement of a hospital ship heading for the Atlantic could signal to a foreign country that a military operation in imminent. The post about Greenland might be a red herring. BTW, herrings do not traverse the canal because Lake Gatun is a freshwater lake, making it difficult for many marine species to move through.
DeleteBoth ships are currently in Alabama, one in dry dock, the other also undergoing repairs, but can be deployed within 5 days if needed. Regardless of location, none of this makes any sense.
