Train Dreams

I watched this movie last night and thought it was excellent.  It depicts the life of one man living in the Pacific Northwest from young adulthood until his death.  As suggested by the trailer it is a quiet, contemplative presentation with superb performances by Joel Edgerton and Felicity Jones.

  1. This is indeed a beautiful film. I imagine that in some way it captures much of the average person's life. That is, there is likely some form of "tragedy"...wonderful, glorious moments...dark seasons...rebalancing times...and then, we pass from this life, only to eventually be more or less forgotten. Even Alexander the Great is remembered mainly by historians, I suppose.

  2. Watched last night - loved it. In these times I find I look for the bucolic.

  3. I haven't watched yet, but I was really excited to see it upcoming on Netflix. The novella is wonderful -- Denis Johnson puts images and feelings straight into your mind with so little effort.
