I do believe the appropriate term for his condition is "Gigantism" as opposed to acromegaly, which occurs when the same underlying condition (excessive growth hormone) starts or prevails after the growth plates have closed.
As a tallish person, I'll bet he got asked if he played basketball a whole lot.

ReplyDeleteI grew up in Alton, his hometown, and he's a local legend for many reasons. My late grandmother actually went to high school with him.
