There is NO RED COLOR in this image
It does look like there is a red letter and a red background on the other flag, but those are optical illusions - illustrated with closeups at Neatorama.
Wow! This is a good one. The Neatorama post doesn't really explain it though. How exactly does the image trick your eye into seeing red? I'm guessing it has to with cyan being red's complementary color, but the precise mechanism eludes me.
@ Lones Smith: Thank you! Wow, even after learning more, the effect still baffles the heck out of me.
Also interesting: I sent the picture to a friend (who isn't colorblind), who responded that they could only see the red appear by moving their head, and even then only as a modest rusty-brown tint. For me the red is as bright as a stop sign, independent of head movement.
