Interesting name for a cosmetics company

Makes me sleepy just looking at the display... (because...)

  2. I'd never heard it used in the way that makes the quip work, only in the sense meaning "skilled" which is what I assume the cosmetic company meant.

  3. Considering that the pharmaceutical Versed is a trade name (for Midazolam), I wonder why its manufacturer didn't challenge this. It would be easy to argue that Versed the acne cream is a "medicinal" preparation and someone might conceivably mistake it for the soporific. However searching for Versed as a trademark the only thing I found is a 2018 trademark held by Offspring Beauty Co for its cosmetics. Perhaps the drug company didn't register the name? I dunno. I'm no lawyer and American "intellectual property" law is screwy.

  4. i had to look that up (or rather down, as it was lower down on the search results) to get what you meant. nice use for a quip, by you, of an obscure, to most, name.

p.s. i was initially thinking of there being a connection or play on 'well versed', but that was not it at all.

    I-)

  5. Sorry, after reading the comments about the meaning of the word versed, I re-versed my thinking that you were displaying early onset dementia signals.

I give the benefit of the doubt to yourself and your commenters, even though a Google search of 'versed definition' gives no reference to sleeping.

    1. Making a subtle reference wouldn't be half the fun if everybody got the reference, now would it?

    See the Versed sign?

    (I'll go away now.)

    1. I had to look it up -

      https://www.dictionary.com/browse/versed-sine

That's even more subtle/obscure than what I offered.

  7. One never knows about pharma pronunciations (or beauty ones, either), but I imagine the wonderful relaxing aid to minor surgery is verCED and the skin stuff is VERSed like familiar with.
I saw the reason for posting it right off.
At least one of them works, don't know about the other.
