The Australian plague of mice

  1. In East Germany one of ways used and researched to check the spread of mice in grain fields, is to put up high vertical poles with perpendicular bars, for carnivorous birds to be able to perch down, observe and hunt. These wooden poles look a little creepy, exactly like in Hangman drawings, even with the little diagonal bar. Birds have voracious metabolisms but they also need room to nest, sleep and hide, which mono-cultures simply don't provide.
Suffocating in the smell of rotting flesh, is just poetic justice for those who thought poison would once more solve their problems. Poison that also likely affects however few predators still remain.
