I live in Raleigh-Durham area, and the Appalachian mountain range keeps a TON of ugly midwestern and Gulf weather away from us.
Nice photo! I suppose you could say, via erosion, that weather shapes mountains, too. :-)
Fun factoid: there is a whole category of clouds caused by mountains and similar obstructions, called orographic clouds. The "UFO-shaped" lenticular clouds are among the more striking examples.
