New Zealand today

No masks or social distancing required - because they already did that, with a hard 6-week lockdown of the entire country.  And a lot of intelligent common-sense people.

Image cropped from the one at the via.

And BTW, this is Brazil today, filmed at a store opening with the pandemic still raging:

  1. We could have avoided 200,000+ deaths and the destruction of our economy. Good job, Washington!

    1. Don't forget, their first confirmed case was more than a month after the rest of the world. That's a lot of valuable knowledge to gain second-hand

    2. First Wuhan cases reported to WHO December 31.
      First U.S. case January 20.

    3. Precisely. The first US case was less than a week after the WHO said that there was no evidence of human-to-human contagion (and about a week before Trump closed travel from China, I believe). A month's worth of knowledge is invaluable when your small and isolated country still hasn't been exposed yet.

I'm happy to compare the US response to Europe or other large countries with multiple major traffic hubs, but let's be honest: New Zealand enjoyed many more advantages in the fight against COVID than just a harsh lock-down.

  2. Are you sure you've seen that exact photo (rather than similar ones) from a posting in June? Because when I do a Google Image search for similar images, all the sources list it as NZ-Australia rugby match three days ago, credit New Zealand Herald.
