Supposedly a coincidence

Discussed at BoingBoingI haven't found confirmation that this shirt is being marketed by the Trump campaign itself.  Several readers have confirmed that this shirt is being sold at the official Donald Trump campaign website.

  1. It's actually a bit of cheap commerical clip art you can buy off the shelf to which they added "trump 2020".

A much better one for trump would have been the russian double eagle that appeared on screen at his rally with the presidential seal on it

  4. I checked a few other articles and was able to find a link to this shirt available on what appears to be an official Trump website - https://shop.donaldjtrump.com/products/america-first-tee-1

  5. This disgusting thing is, indeed, for sale on the official campaign shop:

    Absolutely foul.

  6. This is a preposterous reach. Even Nancy Pelosi wears a similar symbol.

  7. Yeah, I am in no way going to defend the little sh!t, but the Marine Corps symbol looks a lot like this too.

  8. They also sell a Trump baseball for $88. What a specific amount to charge.

    1. Given some of these other comments, you may have been a little too subtle. Here's a link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/88_%28number%29#In_white_nationalism_and_supremacism

  9. Wow. An eagle and a circle. Probably very few logos with an eagle and a circle.

  10. I have to say, anyone who thinks the Marine or Pelosi examples are even remotely close to the level of similarity in the original post: you either aren't arguing in good faith, or you need to get your ocular prescription checked.

  11. Those who have Trump Derangement Syndrome (and, yes, he is enough to make someone deranged) cannot see how ludicrous it is to call him a Nazi. First, if he's truly in Russia's pocket, a Nazi is the LAST PERSON ON EARTH Russia would want to work with. There's also the problem of his daughter and son-in-law, who I am sure would not countenance a Nazi, etc.

Folks, sometimes it's just stupidity, not evil.

    1. Look, something like this item in the merch store is not a decision personally made by Donald Trump. He is not (cannot be) attentive to details like this. This item was chosen, if not designed, by a staff member who selected it based on what he or she thought would appeal to and be bought by Donald Trump's "base."

  12. What most of the comments are missing is that the American eagle symbol always faces right, while those associated with Nazis and Germany historically face left. Classic dog whistle stuff -- to those who engage at low levels it just "looks similar," but to a particular population it is a very clear signal.
