Dumpster at a grocery store

  1. In Florida, where lightning strikes and hurricanes are commonplace, all supermarkets are required to have a natural gas-powered generator on site that can be fired up automatically in the event of a power outage. They're still working on the nursing homes, though.

  2. In France, there's a law that bans supermarkets and restaurants from throwing away food. They MUST have a plan in place to forward 'left-over' food to foodbanks and similar organizations. Presumably, they also got rid of stupid regulations like this.
