Clever design to allow privacy in a small space.  Discussion thread includes comments by architect.

I'm a long time reader and long time fan but never added a comment till now. In 1948 my parents bought a government surplus Coast Guard barracks building and had it delivered to their undeveloped lot. My dad had it cut and reassembled into an L shaped ranch on blocks. He and my mother dug out the basement, installed plumbing, and added electric lines. In the middle of 1949, I was born, the youngest of three. There was a single room across from the bath for my brother and dad divided the end room of the wing exactly like the photograph. Put a wall on the near end of the bed and doors to the left and right and my sister and I had separate rooms. Mine was the upper one. Had to write when I saw something this innovative that I lived with all my school years until I left for college. Makes me appreciate my father even more. Oh and Mom still lives in the house! She's 97! Thanks for your blog! Keep up the good work.
