Fifteen children age 17 or under


 And what's truly remarkable is that none of them were multiples -


The New York Times story said the father won a prize.  Seems the prize should have been awarded to the mother.

  1. Even more remarkable: none of the children were "Irish Twins" either. Every birth is at least 365 calendar days apart. The closest she cut it was between Leonie and Marie: 368 days, since 1908 was a leap year.
