  1. A couple years ago you had a photo of one of these amethyst geodes that was purported to be the worlds largest and I posted saying I'd seen larger.

  7. It's not as pretty as the amethyst, but there is a cave on South Bass Island in Lake Erie that is claimed to be the largest geode in the world. It contains crystals of strontium sulfate, known as celestite. It is almost 40 feet in diameter.
