Brimham Rocks are balancing rock formations on Brimham Moor in North Yorkshire, England. The rocks stand at a height of nearly 30 metres in an area owned by the National Trust which is part of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.Photo credit: Penny Mayes Photos with people for scale.
Judging from the photographs Brigham Rocks look more like 30 feet high, not 30 meters! Wikipedia also has 30m. Thanks for your always interesting blog!
ReplyDeleteMy citation is linked to the Wikipedia page, where I got the description. I presume there are lots of rocks at Brigham Rocks, some of which may reach 30 meters? (their website doesn't open for me at the moment). You are correct that "The Idol" certainly does not reach that height.

A couple years ago, some vandals posted a video online of them toppling a similar structure (a hoodoo) in Goblin State Park in the US. In the end, they were found guilty of criminal mischief.
