Can you explain this vertical "beam of light" ?


The image was created when lightning struck while a photograph was taken during a storm.

It's not Photoshopped and hasn't undergone any post-imaging processing.  There is a perfectly logical explanation - detailed and illustrated at Metabunk.

  3. I've worked in electronic imaging for many years and so knew what it was before I saw all the discussion. What worried me was the apparent multi-storey building, with wide balconies reflected in the vehicle's hood at lower right, but which did not appear in the scene in front of the car. I've since figured it out, but it had me going for a while.
