  1. When McDonald's first opened in Wichita, KS, hamburgers were 15¢, fries were 11¢, and Cokes were 10¢. Of course, minimum wage was $1.00 per hour then....

  3. In Canada, in 1976, hamburgers were 30 cents, cheeseburgers 35 cents, small fries 30 cents (large 45 cents) and big macs were 85 cents. And I made 2.15 an hour.

  4. so the hamburger to wage ratio is somewhere between 6.6 (1st McD in W KS) and 7.2 (1976 canada). if you are making roughly 7x the cost of a hamburger, you are doing alright.

  5. Imagine if the hourly wage of a McDonalds worker today was 7x the cost of hamburger.
