Illustrations from "The Red Tree"

I found this visually interesting book by Shaun Tan (Simply Read Books, 2002, ISBN 0968876838) in our library.  You can also view the contents at the equally-interesting Poemas del Rio Wang.

  1. I highly recommend his book "The Arrival", a beautiful and moving story about immigration.

    2. I cannot recommend this book enough. I teach ESL to refugees with very little English language skills and many are illiterate. This book is always a hit and sparks conversations.

  2. The evocative illustrations, coupled with one sentence, reminds me of The Mysteries of Harris Burdick by Chris Van Allsburg - it's one of my favorites.

    1. Perhaps subconsciously that's why I found it interesting. This from 5 years ago:

    2. Normally I clean up the blog by deleting accidentally-doubled comments, but in this case I'll leave the first one there so that your reply will continue to make sense and amuse people.
