Patronize your local arboretum

Those of you who live in climate zones with deciduous trees have the privilege of enjoying a spectacular show of color each autumn.  Last month I visited the University of Minnesota's Landscape Arboretum.  This past week I walked the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Arboretum, where I took these photos.

    1. For me, photography is easier on a cloudy or overcast day because the contrasts are not so strong and the shadows not so deep.

    2. my 'fall foliage on a cloudy day' images come out too 'blah' for me, as i like to see the deep blue sky in the background. yours came out way better.

  4. Beautiful shots. Makes me a little bit homesick for Massachusetts, but not enough to move back.

  5. That's some pretty intense color! We're limited to aspen, birch, and a little maple up here.

    1. Absolutely. But remember also that this is a university arboretum, with many of the species planted for study and display purposes, even though they may not be native (or at least not common) in the region.
