A baby with two faces (craniofacial duplication)

Once upon a time, not so long ago, medical science could or would have established the utterly dismal abnormality of this child when only a foetus, and the parents would have been persuaded to abort it, given that there was no prospect for anything like a normal life or even a life lasting anything more than a few weeks. In the long term, that might have led to a grief that would be easier for the parents to deal with than having their child die at 19 days of age.
