200 classic movies

Posted (thankfully on a single page) at Buzzfeed.  I've seen 135 of them.  Some of you will have seen even more.  Who will wind up with bragging rights?

  1. 144, a shocking number really as I saw an awful lot of them at the cinema or a drive-in.

  2. Only 102 for me. But I want to see more of them.

  3. 52.

What tripped me up was the requirement to have seen them all the way through. If seeing 1/3 or more of the film counted, I'd be well over 150.

  4. only 87... I am a rank amateur! But I will bump myself up to 88 because, while I have not seen all of Titanic (I fell asleep half way through), I have seen A Night to Remember, which for some reason is not on the list.

  5. 100, even. Huge gaps as far as the "blockbusters" are concerned, but many of the revival and foreign titles, thanks to the late, lamented Von Lee Theatre in my home town. (Where I made the acquaintance of Jacques Tati, Charlie Chaplin, Ingmar Bergman, and Satyajit Ray.)

  6. 128 - more of the older titles than of the newer, thanks to my parents choices back in the day when you had to rent the (giant) VCR as well as the tape...I feel like the newer titles are less easy to define as classic, since we all have so many more options viewing wise.

  7. 147. And I do need to see some of them again, plus some of those I had honestly not heard of, so now I can add to my numbers. I don't claim to have actually LIKED all of them... LOL

And some of them I genuinely refuse to watch. Just not my type of flics...
