Territorial claims in the Arctic


This is one of the Washington Post's "40 more maps that explain the world."  For now, I'll just leave it here for possible future reference.
"As the polar ice caps melt, it's creating something that the world hasn't seen in a long time: vast, unclaimed territory. That territory also happens to include oil and other natural resources, as well as valuable trade routes. Five countries are competing to claim the new land: Canada, Russia, Norway, Denmark and the United States."
