The player controls a long, thin creature, resembling a snake, which roams around on a bordered plane,
picking up food (or some other item), trying to avoid hitting its own
tail or the "walls" that surround the playing area. Each time the snake
eats a piece of food, its tail grows longer, making the game
increasingly difficult. The user controls the direction of the snake's
head (up, down, left, or right), and the snake's body follows. The
player cannot stop the snake from moving while the game is in progress,
and cannot make the snake go in reverse.

GIF showing Snake being totally beaten. It just takes a couple minutes.
Wow. I'm guessing that's either a computer doing the playing, or it was played at a MUCH slower rate than shown.
ReplyDeleteIt WAS a much slower rate; the original video was something like 15-20 minutes long, but nobody wanted to spend that much time watching it, so someone compressed it.
DeleteEven so, it is an amazing demonstration of the human brain. The combination of muscle memory, response window and short-term planning (under pressure no less) make this quite a feat, IMDO.
