ReplyDeleteIs there any reason why the part under the water still seems so well preserved? Is the pond frozen or particularly alkaline?
ReplyDeleteIt's frozen - perhaps solid. Only the part above the ice was accessible to the scavengers.
DeleteWhy couldn't it get out? This is such a sad photo.
ReplyDeleteSheep are not great swimmers, nor are they particularly bright. It looks like the bank may have been too steep to easily get out, and this one could only doggy-paddle for so long.
