The new Sim City

I've been a Sim City enthusiast since its original release.  The video in my previous post about the new version has been taken down, so here is a new one.  The graphics in this version are awesome.  Too bad I'm so busy wasting time blogging nowadays that I don't have time to waste time with Sim City.  (first world problem)

  1. Thank you for the posts about SimCity. SimCity and Infocom text adventures were the first computer games I really enjoyed and am always amazed at the advances in SimCity. Once I can afford a computer that will actually be able to run the new version, I suspect I'll buy it. :-)

  2. I remember that, in order to combat piracy of its 3.5" floppy, the original release of SimCity required the user to input a codeword that corresponded to one of around 50 glyph-style symbols it would display at random. The original purchase of the game included the list of symbols and codewords needed to unlock the game each time it was started.

Shortly after buying the game, my family moved across town and the book was lost. But I had made an amazing metropolis and I didn't want to stop working on it. So I rode my bike to the computer store where we'd bought the game and asked about a replacement. I ended up paying the guy $5 out of my allowance to photocopy one of the store's unsold codebooks in a back office.

Thanks for jogging a fond childhood memory!
