This is a "hurricane simulator"
Created at Florida International University’s International Hurricane Research Center, the "Wall of Wind" can create sustained winds of 157 MPH. It's used for testing structural integrity of building materials and techniques.
Why not a single jet motor instead - a single 747-400 motor (60,000+ lbs of thrust) is closer to 90,000 hp, and designed to push air as main function... and sustain an airspeed of 567mph.
It's a pretty build, but...
