False footprints

These shoes were devised for raiding parties in the Far East. They left prints in the sand that looked like the bare footprints of local people. Heavy boot prints would have been an instant giveaway.

  1. I believe this strategy was also used during the world war for covert agents coming ashore at night. Saw this documented in a camouflage exhibition at the Imperial War Museum, but couldn't find an online citation. Will try harder next time!
