Perfect attendance

Yet another example of how highly some people value education.
Tan, seven, has cerebral palsy and can't walk, so every morning for the last three years, her granny has carried her the five kilometres to school, waited for her, and carried her home across southwest China's Chongqing Municipality... Incredibly though, the two have never been late for school, even though the walk takes around two hours on a good day. It is estimated Xiang has carried Tan, now seven, over 10,000 km.
I wish I could chip in to buy that lady a good pair of hiking boots.

Related: children crossing collapsed bridge to get to school, children walking three hours to school.

  1. Instead of hiking boots, we'll donate a wheel chair...

    1. A wheelchair would only work on level surfaces, not on the narrow paths or stairs.

  2. One of my co-workers was just this morning complaining about how she has to drive a whole ten minutes "out of her way" to take her daughter to the new private school she attends. I can't decide if this article makes me want to FW it to her or punch her in the head!

    1. If you forward it to her, you might want to delete your comment. :.)

(And perhaps you might introduce her to these:
