For the anniversary of the Japanese tsunami

Two videos I had bookmarked last year, and a photo of "Wisdom" -

- "the oldest known wild bird in the 90-year history of North American bird banding."
Wisdom, the oldest known North American bird in history, has survived the tsunami that washed over the Midway Atoll on Friday. She is among the fortunate few of her flock however as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reports that thousands of sea birds died in the tsunami wave that crossed the Pacific... Wisdom has flown between 2 and 3 millions miles in her life.

  1. I hope the person filming from inside the car survived. It looked like they were making the right decision to stay inside where they were protected from other floating debris, but I'm not sure if they got trapped there at the end. Can anyone translate enough to tell?

  2. The man inside his car did survive. The video selected was a short version of a more complete video of the news program where they interviewed him after playing the video. They followed him as he walked around the area where it all happened, and also showed why he was able to survive.

  3. Glad to hear it. I'll have to go see if I can find the full version.
