Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Official trailer released yesterday.  Normally I would scoff, but this is a Tim Burton movie.

Addendum:   I stand corrected.  As Steve has pointed out, "It's actually a Timur Bekmambetov film, Burton's just backing it."  I've lowered my expectations - but I've also requested one of Bekmambetov's films ("Wanted") from the library to see what his stuff is like.

Off you go so - more room in the theater for those of us who can enjoy a creative piece of historical fiction.

  3. I am excited for this one but won't be surprised if it ends up being disappointing. I'm still hopeful.

  4. Trailers used to tell you what a movie was about.

  5. It's actually a Timur Bekmambetov film, Burton's just backing it. He made the huge Russian horror/fantasy film Night Watch, which got mixed reviews. I enjoyed it and thought it was a lot of fun myself.

    1. Thanks, Steve. I've corrected that with an addendum to the post.

  6. It looked so awful that I couldn't even finish watching the trailer.

  7. I strongly caution you against watching Wanted. I can not stress enough how terrible that movie is. To this day, I can't watch James McAvoy. He was wonderful in The Last King of Scotland, I know, but the mere sight of him brings back awful memories of forcing myself to power through and finish the travesty that is Wanted.

On an aside- if you were interested in quality movies, I'm confident you could name a genre/theme/country and the community could provide a number of great suggestions.

    1. After reading your comment, I checked my database of all the movies I've seen, and discovered that "Wanted" is on there - with a rating of 1, and an asterisk (which means I didn't even bother to finish watching it). I've cancelled the library hold.

(my rating system explained here - http://tywkiwdbi.blogspot.com/2012/02/blogging-as-preparation-for-dementia.html)
