Where in the world is this "yellow ribbon" located ?

This is astronaut photograph ISS028-E-29679, acquired on August 21, 2011, with a Nikon digital camera using a 16 mm lens, photographed by the crew on the International Space Station.  The yellow-orange linear structure is real; it is several hundred miles long.

Where on earth is it located?  The answer is below the fold.
This is the fenced and floodlit border zone between India and Pakistan. The fence is designed to discourage smuggling and arms trafficking. A similar fenced zone separates India’s eastern border from Bangladesh (not visible).

  1. I flew over this a few years ago, on the way from Singapore (Or KL) to London (Or Amsterdam). It was so bright, and so unusual, I had to look it up when I got home. It seemed more jagged, perhaps because I was closer.
