The Gamburtsev Mountains

The Gamburtsev Mountain range is one of the largest on earth - approximately the same size as the European Alps.  The mountains reach about 9,000 feet in height -- but -- none of them have ever been climbed by a human.

Why not?  And where is this mountain range, btw... ?

Answer in the BBC's Science and Environment section.  You learn something every day.
