Why there are poor people (George Carlin)

  1. I always loved that quote, back before the decline of the middle class. It rang a certain truth, and today, George would probably say the poor are there to scare the rich. Keep them showin' up at those board meetings.

  2. This video is making the rounds, and thought you would like it. Gets fairly funny in the middle, but is very thought-provoking at the same time. These kind of things only work in the UK though, it seems:

  3. *sigh*

Better and more accurately said by Oscar Ameringer, "Politics is the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich, by promising to protect each from the other."

  4. Too bad it is not even remotely true. Sorry George, you foul mouthed lib, but the rich pay most of the taxes of the counrty.

  5. I am just happy that I am in the bottom 50 fricken percent of Americans who DON'T pay any taxes whatsoever. In fact, the government kindly TAKES money from people like George Carlin and GIVES it to me! It's amazing! I don't do ANYTHING for this extra money each year except have more kids! Last year I bought a new flat screen television with that money! This year... well I could really use a new computer! God... I just LOVE socialism!

  7. Apparently since FAUX News started broadcasting, allowing right-wing boneheads with no brains or ideas in their heads to parrot its lies ad infinitum.

    1. Actually it does take brains to "invent the truth", so unfortunately you gotta give the boneheads a teeny bit of credit :)
