"Landscape with the corpse of a horse"

Who wouldn't want this subject matter gracing a prominent place in their home?  An oil painting by Gustave Courbet (~1855-60), currently in the St. Petersburg Hermitage.

  1. Wrong, that horse is just running sideways... silly people.

  2. Nah, it's definitely just taking a nice roll in the sand. The man in the background holding its tack was just kind enough to take its saddle off first so it could get a really good scratch.

Also, this guy did a lot of very erotic nudes. Wow. And he successfully passed that off as art during the Victorian era? I'm impressed.
