Look at the shift in the voting electorate

In the 2008 presidential election year, young voters outnumbered older ones.  This year the ratio changed dramatically, with twice as many over-65s as under-30s.  Found at Yglesias.

  2. This confirms my suspicions, although I would like to see the source.

I feel like when I get on the internet, the US population is definitely majority liberal on social issues like gay marriage, civil unions and abortion. I don't mean to be ageist, I know people of all ages use the internet, but I think the internet voice is a better indicator of where the younger generation is going, political-wise. It seems to me like in 40 years when the 30 and younger crowd become the 65 and older crowd, a party that takes pride in trying to make those social issues illegal won't be very popular.

  3. Thanks for the heads-up; I didn't realize that I hadn't inserted the source (Yglesias, tho he doesn't give his source).
