Georgia O'Keeffe as a young woman

‘The Checkered Dress’ (Portrait of O’Keeffe) by Hilda Belcher

I've seen photos of her dozens of times, but always as a mature or older woman.  Kind of refreshing to see her in her younger years.

Found at Miss Folly.

  1. Thanks! I've never seen her this young before.

  2. Saw the excellent show in May at the Phillips in DC. Included in the exhibition were more than 100 paintings, drawings, and watercolors by O'Keeffe, dating from 1915 to the late 1970s, and 12 photographic portraits of her by her husband, Alfred Stieglitz.
    Also informative short video.
Co-organized by The Phillips Collection, Washington, D.C., the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, and the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, Santa Fe..think it was heading for Santa Fe....which doesn't have much otherwise.

  3. I love the portrait. Summer of 2013 The Hyde Collection in New York is presenting O'Keeffe in her Lake George years.
