"Because they have killed so many Americans...

... I oppose the presence of a Burger King near Ground Zero."

Sentiment per a Redditor whose post link I have lost.  Image credit to topherchris, via Suddenly.

  1. Many of the people complaining, about the proximity would be complaining no matter how far.
Yes I think two blocks is probably a little too close.
Do they have a right to build it there?
    Absolutely.

  3. I believe the intent of the comment is to decry the state of fast food in this country [the "they" is Burger King], not to address the Islamic cultural center issue

  4. It's also been done in a cartoon at Politico -

Perhaps the cartoon came before the Reddit comment, but I just found it moments ago.

  5. In fairness, we've been building "ground zeros" near Iraqi mosques since March 2003.

    1. True. By committing the act that became the single most condemned war crime in history; the use of nuclear weapons against a civilian population center. Twice. If you're going to reference history, do it correctly.

  8. But this isn't about a war!!!
Grouping terrorists who just happened to be muslim extremists, into the same group as ALL other Muslims is disrespectful and lazy.

It just furthers the insulting view that being Muslim immediately forms a connection to terrorism.

There are a lot of Christian terrorist... and churches can still go anywhere. WTF!?

Sadly, at this point I hope they DON'T build there for their own safety: the Ignorance of some Americans is just as scary as the most loathsome Al Qaeda recruit.
