The Los Angeles Times reports that Al and Tipper Gore have purchased an ocean-view villa with "fountains, six fireplaces, five bedrooms and nine bathrooms."
This will be a welcome change from their main residence; that one, back in Tennessee, has only eight bathrooms. The paper doesn't note which home they were in for Earth Day.

Wait, I'm confused about the math. What on earth do you do with nine bathrooms when you only have five bedrooms? Was this place custom-built for incontinent owners?

ReplyDeleteI was wondering the exact same thing. I don't get the math.
Regardless, Gore is so completely tone-deaf. If he truly believed the crap he has made a fortune spewing over the past several years, he'd set an example.
But, like the Wizzard of Oz, we are not supposed to look at the man behind the curtain.
I respectfully disagree with you about the "crap" he has "spewed," because there's a tremendous amount of scientific evidence supporting global climate change and not much evidence against. Unsupported denialism does not count as evidence.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I do agree with you that Gore is politically tone deaf. Unless that villa is powered by solar power/wind power/whatever...but I suspect that's too much to hope for.
The best form of living for a small carbon footprint is in an urban apartment building. If Al and Tipper wanted to walk the talk, they'd settle into a 1,000-square-foot apartment, which is what most of us live in here in urban Portugal. Oh, and they would hang their laundry outside instead of using a dryer.
I'm not holding my breath on that one.
Yup, Gore might be right about the environment (or rather, OTHERS are right, and he has accurately voiced that knowledge)... But he's still a damp sock-puppet.
