The bagpipers of... Palestine!

I was previously surprised to discover that there were Swedish bagpipes in Medieval times.  Today I was reminded that bagpipes are part of a modern tradition in Palestine.  It's a treasured residuum of the scouts and marching bands introduced during the British mandate.  The above are screencaps from an interesting audio slideshow at the BBC.

  2. It's interesting to see they adopted the instrument in this way.
But bagpipes are everywhere I guess. Like a friend, who plays the Breton bagpipe, says "If there are goats and sheep around, there sure will be bagpipes"
See, in northern Turkey -on the Black Sea coast- a type of bapipe -
    tulum
    - is also very popular.
